Sample Letter to Seeker

Once you have identified several promising candidates for your opportunity, it is important that you send a follow-up letter or e-mail to provide specific information about the practice opportunity you are offering. Following is a sample format:

Dear _____________:

I recently received information about you through Optometry's Career Center and would like to tell you about a practice opportunity.

  1. Include a description of the opportunity: associateship, partnership, sale of practice, employment, etc. If appropriate, include the date or month when the opportunity will be available.

  2. Include the practice' s work days and hours (part-time, full-time, days, nights, and/or weekends).

  3. Describe the practice. Following are a few suggestions:
    • geographical area with description of city, or rural or suburban area
    • practice emphasis and philosophy of the practice
    • patient profile or demographics
    • staff profile (include staff titles and number of staff)
    • practice location - include pictures, building description, facilities and equipment

  4. Include the date you will contact the seeker, or the dates you will be available to the seeker for further discussion. You may also wish to include your contact information.
